There is a growing interest in realizing the benefits of continuous processing in biologics manufacturing. The potential advantages of continuous manufacturing include steady state operation, consistent product quality, reduced equipment size, high volumetric productivity, streamlined process flow as well as reduced capital cost.

This technology, however, poses challenges of various nature, which need to be addressed before large scale implementation is considered. The workshop Continuous Bioprocessing will focus on the recent advancements in the application of continuous bio processes in the production und down streaming of the bioproducts as well as the measurement and control of the processes.

The meeting is organised by the DECHEMA working group "Measurement and control of bioprocesses".
